What are we going to do about this?
3: anonymous 2024/06/17 19:56:58 ID:WgFM6tLZ0
True. I don't even have the energy to play myself anymore.
6: anonymous 2024/06/17 19:57:49 ID:PAXNfSA80
At this point, they're not even watching videos for the game itself.
7: anonymous 2024/06/17 19:58:00 ID:z7HfzObn0
The gaming industry must feel really unlucky.
8: anonymous 2024/06/17 19:58:04 ID:SRQcDWON0
People who watch the ending aren't likely to buy the game. Those who buy won't watch spoilers.
15: anonymous 2024/06/17 19:59:57 ID:aA9yG1eu0
It's a hassle and costs money.
17: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:00:39 ID:IfaH6OvE0
I watch Let's Plays for remakes. I don't want to replay games I played to death back in the day.
19: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:01:10 ID:7IL37dJB0
I get Let's Plays for FPS games with a focus on PvP, but it makes no sense for RPGs to be pushed by the developers.
24: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:01:53 ID:ubzh4rNY0
I don't have the energy to watch hours of someone else's gameplay.
27: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:02:28 ID:hP4sYsaF0
For single-player games, just watching is enough. For online multiplayer, I do feel like playing myself.
33: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:02:59 ID:Mo+wLLfX0
It's really strange. It's not the game they like, but the streamer.
39: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:04:13 ID:uJp5PDA80
I get people who just watch, but they shouldn't critique the game itself.
41: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:04:17 ID:4f4rtqGo0
I can't clear it even if I play it myself.
67: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:10:45 ID:WZCjou4+0
Come to think of it, even a Switch costs around 40,000 yen.
89: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:15:50 ID:P7dKZ7uh0
Street Fighter 6 was boring when I tried playing it myself.
95: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:16:56 ID:WCepQNTL0
People who settle for videos probably don't play games at all. Even back in the day, some were satisfied just watching friends at the arcade.

Marketing is about getting a small percentage to buy. Even if you think no one will buy it, a few will, and that's enough.

Playing has become a chore.
101: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:17:41 ID:PZESF2Lx0
This is terrible for time efficiency.
123: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:23:30 ID:4swKqJss0
Yakuza games probably have very few buyers. Mostly Let's Play viewers.
141: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:26:59 ID:fRn+0qFR0
Playing alone at home feels lonely.
142: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:27:09 ID:QGQwW2cq0
Resident Evil is too scary and difficult to play alone.
146: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:28:13 ID:dxNUcjSV0
For adventure games, Let's Plays are fine.
148: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:28:34 ID:HtsSeEY20
I also settle for videos for complicated RPGs. Without customization like Pokémon, I can't be bothered.
149: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:29:06 ID:q3ud7ult0
Dragon Quest Builders was great. The story and building were so fun that it made me want to buy it even after watching.

Builders is a top-tier clone. They should make a third one, seriously.

Do you prefer Let's Plays with commentary or without? I used to prefer with commentary, but as I got older, I can't stand the voices. Same goes for live streams. If I hear loud Kansai dialect while watching an old game, I might break my phone screen. Definitely a thumbs down.

I can't stand commentary either. It's just annoying.

If I just want to see the story, no commentary is better, but generally, I prefer commentary to avoid boredom.

If it's a game I've already cleared, then I don't mind watching archived footage with commentary.

Can't buy multiple games anyway.

That's a simple truth. Couldn't buy much until high school.

You'd borrow from friends or buy used games from the previous generation. My dad played a bit, so he understood and bought games like Gran Turismo.

I like watching VTubers play games.
223: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:50:13 ID:UOGUfReK0
No wonder mobile games are thriving.
230: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:52:57 ID:cQSlkTEF0
Honestly, playing games myself is more fun. But I do enjoy watching anime with commentary and reactions.
234: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:54:27 ID:ZbWAWb2P0
No matter how good you get, there are always people on YouTube or social media who are way better and get all the attention. Makes you wonder why you even try.
238: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:55:48 ID:oUjs9VF50
Single-player games feel like a waste of time. They used to be a communication tool for kids, but now even kids only play competitive games like Splatoon or Apex.
241: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:56:51 ID:5gCCYyv/0
I only watch Stan.
248: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:59:03 ID:GBn6XQeg0
When you're as big as Moko, you can rack up views just by eating. It's a dream.
251: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:59:31 ID:s/0lVqL20
It's just a way to kill time. If you spend it watching videos, you won't have any time left.
253: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:00:09 ID:1wKb5X980
We'll probably end up with more casual mini-games.
259: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:02:27 ID:ZbWAWb2P0
To be honest, I enjoyed watching my brother play RPGs and other games when I was a kid.

Even in competitive games, it's about the memories with friends. RPGs might be boring alone, but you could manage by reading manga alongside.

I used to act as a navigator for my brother with the strategy guide.

Games should only be viewable by those who bought them.
263: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:03:15 ID:3qIOHnS70
Is it okay to let someone else experience it for you?

It costs money and playing alone is lonely. It meets the needs of those people.

Undertale made me want to play it myself.
269: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:04:54 ID:FeHYV7cd0
And Persona too.
271: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:05:10 ID:0rw9zbAX0
They don't like the game; they like the streamer playing it.
276: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:07:46 ID:ZbWAWb2P0
Whether it's good or bad, the ability to play alone is a factor. I can do it no problem.
280: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:10:09 ID:Ha+Kk2jU0
Games that are all about the story should ban Let's Plays.
282: anonymous 2024/06/17 21:11:15 ID:yT+H29NO0
It's just about money. Playing yourself is way more fun.

For FromSoftware games, the story is hard to grasp just by watching. They're well made.
102: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:17:57 ID:q3ud7ult0
People who don't buy games won't buy them even if there are no videos.
243: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:57:18 ID:5rjrbBlv0
Let's Plays cut out the grindy parts, making it efficient for viewers.
217: anonymous 2024/06/17 20:48:06 ID:0rw9zbAX0
When I was a kid, I couldn't buy many games. Growing up in a generation where you can instantly watch Let's Plays changes your perspective.
